The History

One of the largest towns in southeast Arkansas, Monticello offers visitors plenty to see and do. The Drew County Historical Museum provides insight into the history of Monticello and Drew County. The Turner Neal Museum of Natural History, located on the picturesque campus of University of Arkansas-Monticello, is home to the Pomeroy Planetarium and features a wide variety of exhibits. Other entertainment options like movies, bowling, roller skating and cultural events means there’s something for everyone.

Outdoor enthusiasts can get outside at one of our city parks, splash pad or playgrounds, as well as enjoy some of the best bass fishing in Arkansas. Two Arkansas Game & Fish Commission Wildlife Management Areas are just a short drive away. True wetland eco-systems, Seven Devils Swamp and Cut-Off Creek, offer some of the best duck hunting in the state along with unique wildlife watching. Boating and kayaking are also plentiful.
