About Us

One of the largest towns in southeast Arkansas, Monticello offers visitors plenty to see and do. The Drew County Historical Museum provides insight into the history of Monticello and Drew County. The Turner Neal Museum of Natural History, located on the picturesque campus of University of Arkansas-Monticello, is home to the Pomeroy Planetarium and features a wide variety of exhibits. Other entertainment options like movies, bowling, roller skating and cultural events means there’s something for everyone.

WELCOME to Monticello. My wish for your visit to our great city is that you find hospitality in abundance, unique amenities, plenty of enjoyable activities, and every convenience you desire. We love to have visitors whether they're visiting for business or pleasure. I hope while you're here you will explore and discover the natural treasures we are so proud of.

We are the home of the University of Arkansas at Monticello which boasts the only School of Forrest Resources in Arkansas and the competitive Boll Weevils! Our children are of great importance to us as evidenced by our schools, healthcare, sports complex, Miracle League field and playground, and the numerous parks we maintain in Monticello.

When it comes to entertainment and recreation you have options! Take in a movie, bowl a few games, skate at The Rink, take a long swim in our pool, enjoy a SEARK Concert Association production or just observe wildlife in one of our Wildlife Management Areas. You shouldn't leave hungry either. Monticello is blessed with an abundance of chain and locally owned restaurants. If you need to refresh, take in a spa or salon experience. Before you leave, take home some local flavor and gifts. Our retailers have shopping for every age, interest and pocketbook.

Again, welcome to Monticello! Once you visit, you will surely want to stay.

Sincerely,

Paige Chase
Mayor of Monticello
